Backpacking Trips

nbogEach year at N.B.O.G. the older groups embark upon a backpacking trip, usually lead by Teacher J.T. Osgood along with a few parent volunteers. Students look forward to these special overnight hiking and camping adventures and develop skills throughout the year in anticipation of them. We are ever on the quest for a lighter pack!

End of the Year Campout

nbog

Students and families all look forward to our end of the year campout, which typically takes place at one or two large group camps in beautiful Big Basin State Park. At this campout memories are created that will last a lifetime. At campouts we have been known to sing songs and roast marshmallows around the campfire, hold fun nocturnal navigational challenges, and pursue special craft activities like weaving, dying, or pit firing of clay, but what really matters to the families who enjoy our campouts is the togetherness they find there. In our fast-paced world, taking time to come together as a community to have fun and enjoy wonderful natural surroundings for a few days is important, and is a reflection of N.B.O.G.’s core philosophy of building awareness through experiencing nature, observing, hiking, working, playing, dancing, singing, eating, and communicating together!
